Success story no. -1

Cross breed cow rearing by sri Gautom Dutta, College Road, Chabua.

Sri Gautom Dutta, S/o Sri Ajit Dutta, College Road Chabua, Dibrugarh is rearing cows since last five years. Being a graduate in Arts, he started the farm with four nos. of cows in the year 2004. Now the nos. of the cows is increased to the 24 Nos. with calves. The production of milk is about 125 litsdaily & he used to supply the production to the nearest Army Camp and to the nearby public also. He earns Rupees Two Thousand Four Hundred daily by selling  the milk. He always keeps touch with the local veterinarians regularly for the purpose. He wants to establish his farm as one of the model farm in the district.

 

Success story no. -2

 Broiler farming by Sri Ramendra Phukan, East Deodhai Gaon of Chabua.

Sri Ramendra Phukan s/o Sri Mohan Phukan , of village East deodhai gaon, Chabua started to rear broiler farming and become successful within last ten years. He started with 500 nos. of broiler chicks in the year 1999 and by continuing the farm he is now capable to rear 4000 nos. of chicks by batches. He is now able to earn  amounting to Rupees 20,000/- per month as profit. He is himself established as a progressive farmer of the Dist.

According to the livestock census 2007, the dist. Have 253610 nos. of male and 663494 nos. of female Indeginous cows, 7960 male and 31810 nos. female cross breed cows, 37488 nos. of buffaloes, 110269 C/B pigs, 120371 nos. local pigs, 2107029 poultry, 636836 nos. ducks, 195169 goats population.

SELF EMPLOYMENT SCHEME OF NABARD IN VETERINARY SECTOR

 

Name of Scheme       – Venture Capital Fund

Activity                       – Livestock of Farming [Milch cow, piggery, goatery, poultry]

Objective of the scheme – To maximize the production of meat, milk, egg etc in the Dist. The Deptt is taking steps to create awareness programmes among the SHGs & interested farmers regarding the above scheme. NABARD has already been taken steps for creation of Fund for venture Capital for the above schemes. Under the scheme, interest free loan to the extent of 50% of the project outlay will be provided.

In addition, 50% of the interest charge on the Bank loan will be subsidized to the borrows who are regular  in repayment.

Under the above, scheme, the deptt. Has already forwarded more than 150nos. of applications received from the interested farmers of the District.

Base Pig breeding Farm, Khanikar, Dibrugarh

The pig breeding unit is running successfully at Govt. L/S Farm, Khanikar by  supplying the exotic pigs to the individual farmers  and SHG members of the dist at a reasonable price. The farmesr are involving themselves from conventional to commercial scale by producing exotic piglets, growing pigs and also by adopting scientific managemental practices and technical skills. It also helps to increase the pork production in the district to meet the rising demand of pork meat.

Milk Village at Jokai –

In the milk sector the deptt. Has already set-up a milk village at Jokai under the financial assistance of SIB and SIRD which is running successfully.

To increase the egg production – the deptt. Has taken steps to make awareness programme, among the SHG and other individual farmers to rear the hy-breed  layer chicks for the egg production. For this purpose, the deptt. Has already distributed 24,156 nos of hatching eggs and 47,000 nos of hy-breed layer chicks, 1000 nos. of ducklings through the Govt. Poultry Farm, Khanikar, among the SHG and individual farmers.

To minimize the cost of production – the deptt. Has taken steps select the potential beneficiaries for the fodder cultivation in the dist. For this purpose , fodeer schemes [community  pasture and mixed fodder farming under RKVY Schemes]  are implementing by the deptt.

To increase the meat production - -[mutton] the deptt. has already set-up gottery farming through potential SHGs under RKVY scheme. The deptt. has also  taken steps to set-up Goatery farming through  individual farmers, under KCC Scheme and for this purpose the Field Vety. Officers are already instructed to select potential  beneficiaries to send their proposals for consideration of the concerned bank.

District Poultry Farm, Khanikar, Dibrugarh

The District Poultry Farm is strengthened and used to rear parent stock bird with a modern incumbator with an aim to ensure the supply day old layer chicks and hatching eggs to the farmers at a reasonable price to make the Dist. Self-sufficient in the egg production. One mini plant is also installed for the production of feed for poultry.
