Activities of the office of the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer

  At the office of the Sub_Divisional Welfare Officer there are three Sub_divisional  Development Boards for the Welfare  of scheduled castes/Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. The S.D.W.O. is the secretary for the three welfare Boards. The S.D.W.O. takes up action to follow up the recommendation of the respective development boards by pursuing with the District / Sub_Divisional authorities of the various development departments.

The different schemes of the special component plan for scheduled castes under various departments are given approval by the Sub-divisional  Welfare Boards for S.C. The S.D.W.O. also monitors the schemes of the developments departments, such as family oriented Income Generating schemes of corporation / D.R.D.A. and the item of point  11’A’ of the 20 point programme.

The S.D.W.O. also distributes Pre-Matric Scholarship to S.T./OBC and S.C. students as well as Grants-in-aid to S.T. and S.C. people living below the poverty line.
                            

Brief  Notes on the Schemes under taken

(1)        Grants-in-Aid to S.C. and S.T. people : Grants-in-aid to S.C. and S.T. people living below poverty line are provided with Thelas,Handlooms,Sewing Machine,Sericulture rearing Unit etc under F.O.I.G.S. The beneficiaries are selected by the respective development Boards.

(2)          There are schemes under S.C./S.T. and O.B.C. where grants-in-aid is provided to Non-Govt. Educational Institutions, to Non Official Organisations doing welfare works and to patients suffering from Cancer , T.B. and other malignant diseases. The beneficiaries are selected by the respective development Boards from people living below poverty line.

(3)     Pre-Matric Scholarship:  Pre-Matric scholarship is given to S.T/OBC 

         and S.C.students who scores 40% marks in the last Annual examination and whose          parents live below the poverty line.
